6-step skincare routine for every skin!

Many would claim foundation being the base of a great look. But isn’t actually the skin itself they’re referring to?
I believe great-taken-care-of-skin is the actual base of great looks! In my opinion, investing time and money in a great skincare routine is more important than investing in makeup. After all, skincare is essential and you only got one skin!
Keep on reading to find out the 6-step skincare routine we stand next to – it matches every skin

Having AND using a good cleanser is a must! Cleaning the skin is important, whether you wear makeup, or you don’t – but especially when wearing makeup. I personally use micellar water for cleansing, which works wonderfully for my skin.
It’s gentle and effective in cleaning the skin well, and does not irritate it as other cleansers do. Especially wipes! What I love most about micellar water is that I don’t need to use another product to make sure all my makeup is gone. You don’t even must wash your face afterwards, due to its great formula.

I apply it on cotton pads and gently use it all over the face to remove the makeup. It’s safe to use it on your eyes to! What I like to do is to place the cotton pad on the lid and press it gently in order for the mascara to get absorbed by the magical water.
I go on with two or three cotton pads until nothing more comes on the pads, meaning the skin is clean and ready for the next step!

I don’t know about you, but I love exfoliating my skin! It feels so good to get that super nice glow on and fresh skin. Either you prefer an exfoliator with acids from the stores or a homemade natural one as I do – you should definitely have one!
Exfoliators are amazing at getting rid of the dead skin, black heads, and dry patches from your face. In the wintertime, my face gets a bit dry, so using a great exfoliator makes things so much better.

You can use an exfoliator tool, (I love my Clarisonic), or just your fingers to apply the exfoliator on wet & clean skin. After applying the product onto your skin, then start gently to rub it in circular motions. Not too harsh, but enough to get rid of the dead skin and reveal the glow.
Repeat the routine once to three times a week depending on your skin type and needs. Once for sensitive skin and two or three times for normal and combination skin.

This isn’t a MUST, but we’re adding it in here in case you’re fancying a fancy skincare routine. If you’re using an exfoliating toner as your exfoliator, then you can definitely skip this step.
Less is more

I love serums! Ever since I’ve started using them, I’ve been obsessed with them. What is a serum? A serum is lightweight moisturizers that deliver active ingredients onto your skin deeper than any other product. How? A serum is particularly able to this task because it is made up of smaller molecules containing a very high concentration of active ingredients. Therefore, serums are an important tool when struggling and dealing with specific skincare concerns, such as wrinkles or redness.
I still love mine from Minnavi. If you haven’t heard about this brand, then HURRY. Korean beauty has been dominating the skincare empire due to the miraculous products that provide great and visible results.

The traditional step that every skincare routine contains – moisturizing. Choose a natural moisturizer or at least one that does not contain parabens, synthetic colors, or fragrance. These ingredients are NOT necessary to put on your skin, and in fact, they are harmful for your skin. All you need is great moisture, that should be applied two times a day.
Some serums, depending on their function, don’t require a moisturizer on top. Therefore, you can skip this step without feeling guilty. On the other hand, if you’re using a serum for acne or wrinkles, an overall moisturizer is vital!

I must admit that I skip this step myself, way too many times! Even though I currently live in Norway, (UVB & UVA rays are everywhere), using sunscreen is so important for the skin! I believe we all should be a bit more careful and apply the amount of sunscreen we think we don’t need. This way, we will be avoiding so much damage we don’t need on our lives AND skin!
Don’t fall for the products claiming they contain a certain sunscreen percent and choose sunscreen products alone. A foundation that’s meant to be evening your skin tone will not whatsoever be able to protect your skin as much as a one-purpose sunscreen product will.
Enjoy the extra sunscreen if it really contains probable SPF as claimed, (you can never really protect your skin enough with SPF), whilst your skin is pampered in guaranteed SPF.

Nooow, you’re good to go!

Remember, cleansing-exfoliating-toning-serum-moisturizing-protecting. These are the 6 steps your skincare routine should contain – the 6-step skincare routine! I get you girl, sometimes it feels so much you just skip all steps.
When not feeling up to it, I recommend taking your makeup off at least and applying a drop of your favorite moisturizer. When feeling like throwing a skincare party, do it in these 6 steps and your skin will love you!
As mentioned, feel free to shorten your routine by excluding the toning part. The cleaning, exfoliating (occasionally), serum (if preferred) and moisturizing, (most importantly), should be part of the routine. As a result, your skin will shine bright like a diamond.
And if you’re struggling with problematic skin, it’s OK! It’s not up to us to choose what skin we’re born with. So, taking the care of it the best way we can, THAT’S up to us. There are always solutions for skin issues, and earlier or later – your skin will get better!
